Title: 40amp KID
Post by: dgd on November 11, 2015, 02:26:32 PM
Mario,

Some time ago Robin mentioned a customer needing a 40amp output KID(s).
Something also about a fan being necessary for that level of output - although that is not really a concern for me as I have already constructed a new KID mounting with temp controlled fan and suitable airflow ducting over the KIDs pcb/fets.

Is it possible to get a firmware copy with that limit set to 40amps?
I would be happy to accept that using it would void my warranty.

I would be thrilled with a 40A option as well.
A discussion with Robin revealed that the terminal block is only rated for 30 amps  :(

That is one wish on the Classic & the Kid... That the terminal block was a bit bigger.

Do however very much appreciate the performance and the outstanding value of both charge controllers

Or 50A or 60A, but wait,  that would be a classic...

BTW is it too soon to start a wishlist for Classic Mark 2?

- more effcient, less heat.
- lower idle
- studs instead of terminals.

Tried that a couple of years ago..
There was also talk about a bigger KID being designed but that was also about 2 years ago. Have not seen any updates on its progress.
Although I would have been happy with a fanned 40A or 45A kid. I do remember reading somewhere that the most popular mppt controller was the MS 45MPPT, MN has nothing comparable (Aout and $) closest being Classic 150 Lite although about usd200 more expensive
