Title: Linux updater
Post by: Halfcrazy on December 18, 2015, 11:24:41 AM
Matt packed up the latest production firmware into the linux updater. I have no idea how this works and if the directions are in the package. If you have questions please let me know

Cool ! I had to find a friend's window 7 to update mine.

I can boot my laptop from a linux LiVE DVD, and have access to the USB at that point. (I recover HDD's that way) and if I can run the installer from a 1x boot of linux, that would be so awesome !    But if the installer needs to write to the linux partition (which is a DVD) thats not going to work.

Then boot from an USB drive/key. The live system will use a writable partition image.

Lox, wouldn't a SD card work as well, as long as the SD is a bootable 'image'?

Indeed ... Even a DVD: I think part of the system runs in memory and simulates a writable partition or something like that...

I use Ubuntu desktop as my only desktop OS since ... well, ... more than 10 years ago.
