Title: Mobile version of MyMidnite2
Post by: mister_c on February 05, 2016, 01:33:23 PM
Would it be possible to make a version of the MyMidnite2 web interface for use on mobile?
Instead of apps for every different mobile os

Thanks for listening

I second... There's something a bit ... about Midnite Solar Inc. The software choices to me seem to odd(kickbacks? would be understandable then);

How about some parameter for &TEXT that spits out daily/current values.

It should work from a $5 prepaid mobile phone; "mobileweb" html v3/text, basic...

Off topic a bit, Is there a win32 Command Prompt app yet that can connect directly to a Midnite and display text data to spare systems from having that god awful Adobe AIR installed.

Hi, are you guys asking for a local app or mymidnite2? Mymidnite2 should work fine with most phones. It's been somewhat optimized to work in landscape orientation on modern iPhone and Androids.

The Local App is another story.

For command line look for RossW's newmodbus on this forum. Also DGD has done some work interfacing to the classic as well, though I don't know if he has a CLI option.

Our modbus spec is freely available on the website. You can also use any 3rd party modbus software that you like. I use modpoll and modscan. Both available for win32.

What i was asking for was a mobile interface instead of PC interface i can view Mymidnite2 fine as web page but i have to enlarge it to see it and log in, most of the times touching the wrong area. This is basically the only area i'm interested in for a quick reference to know if everything is ok or not at the cottage.
PS not everyone uses iphone or android

Yeah, the cellular providers have quite a scam going for data on smart phones; charge monthly fees and big bucks for data(generally if you use it or not); Where as a regular/less-smart phone with 'mobileweb' can be $1 only on the days you use it; I only need to use it maybe 30-60 days a year.
A TEXT parameter/url would be nice where it would simply return
Example:
""
DEVICEID: <name>
Last Contact: 2/21/2016 13:59:37
Status:   Bulk MPPT
Power:   54.0 W
Energy:   0.3 kWh
Battery:   13.3 V
Output:   4.1 A
Float Time:   00:00:00
"" -- No frames, fancy html or even color necessary...
Graphs are nice, if one wanted to do the EXTRA work; export it to a small .jpg with a link to it at the bottom.

Sorry if I confused it, I was speaking of both...
I would like similar in a win32 Command prompt program that would poll the classic and display data so that I wouldn't need to have Adobe AIR installed/running(or anything intensive) to monitor basic data; Exactly like what I suggested above for simple html results from mymidnite; only local command line program.

I spent a couple hours last year fooling with various modbus utils; I recall getting some minimal raw data from the classic; I would request that a MidNite Solar programmer spend a small amount of time on a display-only win32 command line app that would handle/display it.  If a 3rd party win32 util has gone this far I'm interested. Example:

C:\Utils\MidNiteCLI.exe 192.168.1.55  -RefreshInterval 60
Updating Screen that would show:
""
Date: 2/21/2016 13:59:37
Status:   Bulk MPPT
Power:   54.0 W
Energy:   0.3 kWh
Battery:   13.8 V
Output:   4.1 A
Input V: xx
Input A: xx
AUX Status: x
LifeTime KWH:
---- More/Any...
Float Time:   00:00:00
""
Until Esc/Q is pressed.
