yes, I have rtfm :)
it tells me, communication error between the MNGP and the Classic.
As I wrote in the other topic, I found ma classic some weeks ago with all LEDs blinking and all fans running.
After powercycling all was fine again.
Some days later, I found my classic again blinking LEDs. Powercycle and all fine.
Now I had to do in the basement and looked more times to the classic.
Again, all LEDs blinking.
So manual tells me, communication problem and check that cable.
So i did. Cable is okay, all contacts I can meassure from one end to the other.
The basement is dry, so also no oxidation visible.
After unplug the cable and plug it back in, the MNGP starts and looks all okay.
Later it was blinking again. I changed the plugs and a longer time all looks okay, then it is blinking again.
I don't know is it a random thing now - but I did not see the Classic blinking like now before I did the update.
But the Classic works ...
So looks like it is only a problem mith the MNGP
As I config it all with the app, the MNGP is not really necessary for the Classic, or?
It reboots every midnight and works - so I think it is not a problem?
----------
Is it possible to "clone" a classic? So copy all stored datas to a 2nd Classic?
I will get thankfully a non-lite and want this to be my main charger for the 48V System.
The Classic Lite will then have a smaller job with my 24V battery bank, playing with this.
Is also possible to reset the Lite to zero then?
Do you have auto reset turned on ? If you turn that on it will automatically reset every night at midnight .
Larry
Have you tried to reinstall the FW? both classic and MNGP?
hth
After what the other gents posted ^^^ there .
Make sure all your settings are recorded on paper & then on power up , reboot the machine (holding both left & right arrows down while giving the midnite battery power , then PV power) The unit will be dead on power up & then two arrows & battery power will start at the basic beginning. That is why you well need all your settings recorded. Works wonders !

All external powers , e-net also
Actually the best way to back up the Classic is to download the setpoints and other parameters with the Local Status App and then just upload them back after an update or VMM. Just takes seconds and beats scrolling through all the menus on MNGP and wondering if you missed any.
Larry
My apologies, I was in error writing "MNGP" - I have the Lite and it is the MNLP not the MNGP ...

How to export and import?
I was looking for this longer ago, also to complete missing days manually and import then the corrected datas
In the [Offline] Tab I only have the [Export] button..

Larry, can you explain how this is done? I see an "export registers" under settings, is that it?
I work with some meters at work that allow you to save a "device report". It similarly saves all the programming, and I'd wondered if you could do this with the Classics. I had done screenshots of everything when I first set up things, but that is time consuming.
Thanks for any advice, ~ks

Yes - Open Local Status App = go to Config screen - make sure you have your Unlock Code in there . Export Registers to your computer . I make a folder to keep them in and give each import file a date on the name so I never get mixed up which is the latest one. Do the reverse to Import them back into the Classic. It restores everything that you had it set up for before .

Those buttons are on the bottom of the Config screen on the Local Status App - at least they are on the computer version of it .

screenshots (just a quick view via teamviewer at home)
ah now I got it.
please more detailled infos to find it. Thanks.
wow!!!
why don't they call it "export settings" and "import settings"
then everybody will know what those "export registers" mean.
never in my wildest dreams would i have figured out what those registers were.
anyway thanks for that advice and i will try it out later.

I am not alone with this problem, I see ;)
many things in this app could be more clear for full-stupids like us.
You can guess how many questions I had, till this all was allmost clear. And we find again something...
But i have already said my words about this issue.
midnite classic term "rebulk volts" is fairly self evident. reading it you know pretty close to what it refers.
selectronic calls the same feature "initial return". when first reading it i got a blank. return to what???
selectronic has a "battery alarm setting". you would think it is an alarm, like a smoke alarm, hooting or something. not at all. it turns off an ac coupled grid feed inverter. ...........
i suppose life is exciting. and thanks heaven for those forums.
haha, unbelievable ... but true ..
good luck we have no chinenglish manuals :D

And Actually the best way to SPEAK IS STRAIGHT FORWARD . VMM IS = reboot to basic & drop the BULL @*#& VMM & state it in ENGLISH , Many will use Google translators !!
Posters who are ESL & many folks don't know slang ..!
I got caught & im British from the Queens tongue. VMM was WTF ?
It was EXPLAINED to me that the reboot back to basic was called VMM on here as in Vulcan Mind Melt .
How would I have known ?? Not one manual has VMM only posted here.

I have to agree. Its all a bit of fun with the silly names. Perhaps some of them are tradition or in house jokes. Though without sounding like a spoil sport I think it would be better if it was just kept tecnical and boring. Its a serious product that understanding the setting and playing with them can have serious outcomes.
Perhaps have some fun in house with it and so on but out in public I think is best keep it black and white on in the setting, instructions and forum responses.
Kurt
I don't quite agree - we don't want the Midnite crew getting bored and ordinary ! Let them have their fun - we will figure it out and translate as needed . Besides - have you ever looked at Linux stuff ? Talk about weird names and geek - Midnite is pretty conventional by comparison.

Okay ich möchte auch meinen Spaß haben, und werde dann mal in Deutsch schreiben :D ;D

Okay, I would also like to have fun, and will then in German write times: D; D
This is much more relaxed and fun ....!
I have read many here who have used google translate .
Just My View.
:D
SO after we had fun, can we come back to topic (mh... okay just for a moment hehe) ;)
Last two days I did not see all the LEDs blinking on the MNLP
Will see after today, sun is shining well, the Classic Lite has a lot to do today, and see tonight if the LEDs are blinking again. Must find out, why this happens.
Back on topic !
Have registers recorded
Use a XP or a WIN-7 computer & run all firmware again.
Do a manual basic reboot (VMM) as this thread has beat 2 death
Reload Registers & then all know WIN-10 & firmware updates are a pain.
I'm just going off this thread , and how your Classic are spoken about.

LEDs are blinking again, this noon and again now I came home.
ok I give it one try to re-update ...
must do this on Saturday ... somewhere someone wrote about how not to loose the datas ... can't find it,
((we have no "own posts/topics" or similar here in the forum, not very efficient to let google do the search...))
If that will not solve, I ask for older FW.
My direct contact to Midnite with asking for older FW was not relpied.
Very nice. Thank you. Gratulations to ignore this! Makes me feel much better! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
MidNite does NOT regularly monitor this site, they do it randomly....
and BTW they have been very busy with combating a Russian a SPAM ATTACK this last week...

I don't use it.
He asked for my version, I had before - the version i am looking for at the moment.
Best would be, someone can tell me what is the problem with this thing, or give me all versions. So I can downgrate to my old version, see what happens, what changes. If the LED problem is gone, then something does not work with the new firmware in my Classic Lite.
Will try version to version untill the last version, if necessacy.
Cable is inctact. After re-plug, it works again. Then, may be a minute or two days later, the LEDs blinking again.
What version do you want - I have some I can share with you .
There used to be a link somewhere on forum that took to a page with all the previous firmware versions but I don't know where it is.
But let me know what version you want and I will attach it on a post here.
Larry
hah so easy ... found it.
Take the download link and only open the ftp dir :D
Will get them now to my HDD
