Title: Max PV Voltage and Max PV O.C. voltage
Post by: cjc0306 on September 07, 2011, 01:45:56 PM
Can I exceed the Max PV voltage as long as Im within the Max PV oc voltage limits? How does the Classic handle this?

Thanks,

Each Classic has a voltage limit the Classic 150 will operate up to 150vdc and the other 2 models follow there model number as well. There is a NON OPERATIONAL safety zone Called Hyper VOC this will allow the Classic to go over its rated voltage by the nominal battery voltage up to 48 volts.

Basically a Classic 150 on a 12 volt battery is safe to 162vdc and voids the warranty at 163vdc and so on up to 48vdc so on a 48 volt battery the 150 is good for 198vdc and will void its warranty at 199vdc the upper limit to Hyper VOC is 48 volts above operational.

There is a cool write up on our home page about Hyper VOC http://midnitesolar.com/pdfs/whyHyperVOC.pdf (http://midnitesolar.com/pdfs/whyHyperVOC.pdf)
