Title: APS UPS switches off by calculated battery energy

Hi

Have a Smart-UPS 1400 RM XL for a 2nd system in my home (for the basement) with classic 200lite for charging the 2 AGM 200Ah batteries

The APC switched off itself at 7.09 AM today, caused by low battery. But low bat is not true! The batteries had good voltage at this time.
I can see it in the log of the APC (Management card) and the Classic log.
Also the Classic will feed grid energy in the UPS when batteries go lower then x.Volts. So the APC should stay on.

That has been working a long time, but now again, the APC shuts off.

I did not find any usefull informations in the web, so if someone here can help ?

Can it be modified?
Is it possible to bypass the self-switching-off part?
Replace the buttons from the front with a reall switch, so it stays on all time?


For me, it looks like the APC "knows" how much energy it can use from the batteries (setting number of battery packs?) and then switches off.
And this independend from the really available energy left in the batteries. And I don't know how to reset this "counter" automatic all 24hrs...

Have add the 2 logs from the APC from today as text files

Now on noon I found out, basement is dark and had to disconnect batteries and manually switch the grid to the APC to get it running again.
Did not start with the buttons in the front.

And viewing the Management status, it believes continue, it has a failure of low batteries :P


Setting the battery packs higher? Or to 0 (zero) ?



I like this APC, it gives just only 208V, and 230V would be better, but has a excellent sinus wave and "clean" voltage output



How it is connected?
Grid - big relais - APC
Relais switched by AUX1 from Classic. In the voltage range 23V to 25V it switches off.
If Battery is 23V low, it switches on and the APC will run on grid energy.
If Classic charges and reched 25V, the Classic switches off the relais and the APC runs only on battery.
and so on ;)

If it has AGM sealed batteries - those can show good voltage but have low capacity . Maybe your UPS does some kind of load test on them.

If you can access the terminals unplug it and do a load test with a light bulb (incandescent  so you have a known load ) or other know small load,and time the voltage drop...  that should confirm those agm's have died....

The batteries are "ok" and they work, hat their voltage good when I switched the APC on again (short time to grid and back to battery, but then the APC was running with the head thru the wall again, so I left it on grid over the night)
Now after one night with the APC connected to grid, the APC is doing its job like it should be.


mh... or the dirty way, must do a "workaround" with a 2nd relay, that connects the APC on day to the inverter output of the 48V system (my main system, for my home) that would be a possible solution. So losing no energy / have not to pay for grid energy :D

Just looking in the NMC, it shows me now 93h58m running time ... 24,7V :D
Marked in calendar my phone to remind me, to see what is happening in <4 days.

Later also trying to increase the number of "battery packs"
