I still am looking for time to reinstall CL 647 and another E Panel, BUT firewood season is here already... so it rained all day on Sat. so I grabbed Beta KID #54 and pressed it back into service for the summer at least to do a maintenance charge on my #2 battery. wired it in with an MNPV3 used as a battery disconnect, no loads connected so I used a 63A CB. PV wiring for 4 panels in series, was all set up with CB for disconnect so just had to reduce the #4 AWG feed wire down to 10AWG....
powered up the KID, changed a few settings and turned on the PV.... a massive 40W!!! Rain and dense cloud to lake level... so I got about 4 hrs of low input PV but the battery started at 25.4 V , came up to 25.5 after dark and said it had hit ABSORB...
Now the puzzle. Next morning the sun was out and giving some filtered light to the panels, BUT the console was dark, no data at all.
Is this normal for a first startup on a different battery??
Nope .
I just had to power my KID down , and restart it again , and made sure it asked the correct voltage etc from scratch , then gave it the basic settings.

Power down and then back up was all it took.... checked the settings and it has been OK since. I will watch it for a repeat... too little sun right now for an assessment of performance.. but it is very fast to change up and down..
not sure what the sweep interval should be??
Classic is 3 minutes yet the KID is fast!! very fast!
Will have to observe in mid day full light , not that lower coast blah we are getting..
later...
Sending the Coastal stuff 2 Ya's .
When I see a funky start I did the reboot & start from square 1 & then I picked P&O legacy over solar , sweep every 2 min in winter , use MPPT solar in summer ( Still Waiting)
