Title: Net Ah & SOC Reset Itself
Post by: Vic on August 21, 2016, 03:08:41 PM
Have never seen this before;

This AM,  went to bond with the battery and power electronics.

Using an MNGP on a Classic,  looked at Net Ah (-- 120 Ah),  Temps,  changed Mode from Legacy P&O,  to Solar,  and back several times,  and ultimately left the Classic in Legacy P&O.

Did a few chores,  and returned to the residence,  noticed on the LApp,  that the Net Ah had become 4.   There is no way whatsoever,  that the PVs and Classic had produced 124 Ah in about the thirty minutes,  between navigating with the MNGP,  and looking at the LA.   Did not look again at the Net Ah,  before exiting the power room.

And,  certainly did not manually reset the Net Ah 0,  and SOC to 1280-ish Ah.

Wonder if in navigating around with the MNGP,  somehow,   these values had become reset.

Has anyone else seen this.  Seems that,  changing the Mode should not cause this ...

CC is Classic 150,  w/ 1849 FW,  WBjr,  etc.   Do plan to update FW soon.

Thanks for any thoughts/suggestions,   Vic

Vic,  first the Local App and now an update ( + 1!)

Next you will have to get an Android device and try Grahams Local App.
IMHO the graphs and other reporting dials are a leap ahead of the MN LApp.... but no update facility, but they work as a nice pair...  but still only 1 device can connect at a time (a Classic limitation)

Hi George,  & Wb,

Thanks for the comments.

Have read every post in the Classic area,  but do not recall reading anything about this type of a reset.  So,  am not certain that a FW Update would resolve anything.

The last Update to two Classics at a very remote site resulted in Bricking both Classics,  so have been a mite reluctant about Updates.   With a lot of help,  here,  was able to Unbrick them,  and revert to this venerable 1849 Cl FW.

Have read great things about Graham's Android App.   But spend over 90% of my time 15 miles from flakey Cell "Service",  and 20 miles from a bit less flakey service.   SO,  really have no use for a Smartie Pants Phone.   Realize that there is probably a WiFi route to an Android phone,  but really would have no other use for such a device ...   nice thought,  though.

OK,  guess that NO one else has ever noticed any such reset  ...   had wondered about this verses the Classic initiating an EQ,  when some human is navigating around menus,  using the MNGP.

OK,  Thanks!    Vic

I only use my Android phones with wifi - don't pay a penny for cell service. You can pick up Android phones that are a few models back from the newest for little  to nothing.
And what do I use it for besides Grahams excellent app ?  Camera, gps, calculator, electronics apps,  seasonal sun locator,  phone ( free via wifi) , and a lot more.

OK,  Thanks again,  guys ...

And thanks Larry for noting the many things that we have been missing,  here in the Middle Of Nowhere,  without cell "service".

Do you have a favorite brand of Android phone?  Assume that these devices may be surplused from friends,  family,  or, perhaps even from Fee-Bay ...

Thanks,   Vic

Vic,
The newer phone  the better processor and compatibility with newer apps.

Samsung, Motorola, LG  - they are all pretty good . Just some are easier to root and install alternative operating system than others.

If you don't have any friends or family who will give you their old one, you help so many people out on this group I will send you one all set up with Cyanogenmod operating system.  Send me a message on here.

One inexpensive Android was the Amazon 7 inch Kindle Fire tablet which you could get for $40 but they just updated firmware so can't root it now ( or yet ) .

Hi Larry,

Thanks for the detailed reply,  and the very kind and generous offer.

This is a very,  very busy time here,  with too many projects needing heavy attention,  before the rains come.  I should not pull the trigger on this,  quite yet.

Believe you are in the Upper Midwest (?),  so,  if true,  you know all about getting ready for the change in Seasons.

SO,  Thank You very much for that generous offer,    Will Search around using some of the key words that you noted.

73,   Thanks again,     Vic
