Title: Max current setting
Post by: EW Zuber on November 07, 2016, 04:55:15 PM
I'm wondering if the classic will limit the total current available when using more than one classic. In other words, if I set the master at 40A max bulk current will it also be able to limit all controllers to that 40A? I want to set up several array's in different directions but do not want the current to exceed a certain level while at the same time maximizing available current potential up to 40A.

Sorry, there is no communications between the Classics on current limiting. The follow-me logic forces same charge state between controllers and shares battery temperature so only one Classic needs a battery temp probe.
To do current limiting over several Classics you need an external processor to read and adjust current for each Classic in order to set an overall current limit for the battery bank
This not too difficult to do if you familiar with an rPi, arduino, BBB, etc..

Eric,

There was a reference to battery charge current Limiting from Ryan in Reply #7 in this Thread:

Could not find the other Thread where you were alluding to this ...   hard to keep track.

Because different people call this function different things,  it is also difficult to Search the Forum to find all of the references to this.

The other comment on this function,  was that each Classic would need its WbJr and Shunt (IIRC).
