Title: Synchronizing Classic 150 & Classic 150 Lite
Post by: PointyHairedBoss on November 29, 2016, 01:18:25 PM
First of all I apologize if this has been previously addressed, I haven't been on the forum for a while.
I have a Classic 150 & Classic 150 Lite (full system details below) installed in 2012 & have never updated the firmware. Is this something that I should do?
One reason I ask is that sometimes the 2 units behave independently.  Example: I program identical charging parameters (voltage, times etc)  into both units (the Lite is programmed thru the other unit's display) but the Lite will drop out of absorb before the specified time limit & drop down to the float voltage.  Since the Classic is still maintaining absorb voltage, I get no energy from the 4 panels connected to the Lite.
Will a firmware update better synchronize the 2 charge controllers?

8 Sharp 235W solar panels, 1 Midnite Solar Classic 150 charge controller, 1 Midnite Solar Classic Lite 150 charge controller, 3 Surrette 4KS25P batteries, Outback VFX2812 inverter, Outback Mate control, Samlex 350W inverter

First some questions folks will have before they can answer:

Have you calibrated the voltage The Classics see compared to the battery?

Without this you can not expect them to match up on modes.

Are you using "follow me"? This is the best way to ensure they are both in the same mode.

Yes, I would update the firmware on both.

Just to start.
