Has anyone here got a set of these?
Just curious about performance and costs?
PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS
Smart Carbonâ,,¢ for Improved Performance
17 Years Battery Life Based on IEC 6142
NOMINAL CAPACITY 1849AH @ C20
278 pounds 125 Kg per cell
Hmmmm with that weight you wont be around for the full life of those cells if you try to move them yourself... ;) ;)
Ha ha, that's why I use a tractor and jib to move the likes the rolls as well.
I have sent an email off to a retailer, but do not expect a reply until after the silly season is over! (you cant get any sense of most businesses
here between x-mas and after the new year)
So nobody has ponied up and bought a set of these?
The plates in these trojans must be approaching an inch thick! :o ;D ;D
As long as the buzz bars in the cells are substantial I have no doubt they will last for decades!
buzz bars? ha ha ha, you just made my day. must be a place bees go to drink.

Nah, they buzz due to the massive MPPT current flowing in them. Turns them into transducers. ;D
Correct terminolology is "internal intercell connectors".
If you have ever shorted out a large amperage battery then there is definately a "buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" accompanied by a blue blinding flash! And having flashed a spark trail from an angle grinder over the gassing cells of a FLA I can state with authority the term "flash bang" is also appropriate! Accompanied by a eye squinting sprint to the shower while peeling all clothes on the way :o :(
My bees do not buzz as they are native stingless the size of house flys! :o ::) ;D
your bees must be pretty big... I know how big your flys are ! They were as big as my honey bees are... maybe bigger... ;)
Are the no-buzzers a Mason bee?
Two types of bees here, common honey bee and the native stingless bee. I had a look and that mason bee is huge compared to the stingless bee. As a being a very hairy little dude! (the mason bee that is) Off topic link to show comparison.

Umm, flys are regular size except for bush flys which are a lot smaller and very friendly!
As well buzz bars need not be confused with bus bars as these are mobile drinking establishments frequented by the gender confused communities in cities like sydney! :o ;D
Hi Russ,
We replaced our 16-L16s this fall (2-parallel, series strings, also Trojans) with a single string of 12-IND23-4V batteries. They are 1,233 AH @48V; 370# each. I wrote a bit on it here:

It is too soon for me to have much of an opinion on performance, longevity. I will say, it is the "firmest source" of power we've ever had. It is nice to have a large enough 'tank' to accept both PV & wind sources. They are very expensive; about $1k/ea. The benefits that we considered were:
1) 2,500 cycle-life
2) 51% capacity increase - 64 kWh, 32 kWh usable at 50% DOD.
3) less maintenance: single-string, less connections, half the number of cells to water (24)
4) Trojan includes interconnection cables & terminal covers
