I upgraded 3 controllers monday, and now one of them is dead. Still under warranty. Won't turn on. Below is my history of activity.
System: 10.2kw, 3 Classics.
Classic 200v: PV 2.8kw Firmware 1933
Classic 200v: PV 3.7kw Firmware 2056
Classic 200v: PV 3.7kw Firmware 2056
Battery: 48v, single string 915 ah
Two Classic 200 (2056) purchased as a PV upgrade on 11/17/16
Operational around 2/1/17
New 4 wire phone cables connect the 3 classics together for follow-me operation connected master->slave.
Tweaks setting for FollowMe = off, since all must be running same firmware version
BTSNET = Master
System has been functioning perfectly with all 3 controllers since 2/1/17 in the above configuration.
2/20/17 Upgraded firmware on all 3 controllers to 2126 and MGP 2124 successfully.
After the upgrade of all 3 controllers to 2126, follow-me was turned on in tweaks menu. BTSNET was set to Master.
2/21/17 Controller 2 dead. :( Will no longer power on. Reviewed troubleshooting section of manual.
Verified battery terminals at 53.3 volts. ??? No lights of any kind when switching on breaker. I later read in the manual about turning on BTSNET but there is no 'on' option. Just master and followme. Assume all controllers need to be set to 'followme' or maybe the one with the BTS cable stays 'master' with the other 2 on 'followme'. Manual is unclear. MNGP says master=BTS cable connected.
2/22/17 System is running on controllers 1 & 3. Have turned off followme.
Since operation, controllers have not gone over 55 amps output. PV Inputs are not capable of going over 40. Internal limits are set to factory defaults. Is there a field serviceable internal fuse somewhere? I reviewed troubleshooting section and see nothing to assist further research other than battery terminal test.
Thanks for any assistance. I'm stumped.
By dead do you mean there are no LED lights or fan running at all when you power it on ? If
If it has some life this is what I would try - unplug all the follow me cables from dead Classic. Then plug in the programming cable . See if it responds at all with updating software . If so try uploading firmware again. If not try the hardware jumper reset and then see if it responds to programming . If not time to call Midnite or submit online ticket request . If they don't have any good ideas they will give you an RMA so you can send it in.
