We're playing around with monitoring a Classic with a JNIOR controller. The JNIOR has the ability to act both as a MODBUS client and server. It can then create and serve dynamic web pages and do so securely. I am also looking to do the same for my plant (public can monitor it at http://www.cloutieronline.net (http://www.cloutieronline.net)). The JNIOR is a smart controller. You can find out about it with Google and there are a few videos on Youtube. It is a finished product and lies in the spectrum someplace between the Raspberry Pi and Arduino.
My question to all of you is...
Of the MODUS channels in the Classic which do you need to monitor and how would you like to display them?
In my case we monitor an Instantaneous Power (kW), The Daily Total (kWh), and overall Total (kWh). I have SMA inverters and collect the data via the SMA RS485 network. The above mentioned site predates that approach and uses the SMA Webbox and a PC server. I want to replace that. But, you can see how we currently display the data. The JNIOR can do the same.
We could use your help in deciding what is important to you. We don't have the Classic here but are starting to work with one remotely. We can also set this up for anything else worth monitoring. I've a mad budget for this.
When we get this running I can supply some JNIORs gratis for some of you to play with.
Take a look at Grahams Classic Android app - he has all the essentials on there in great graphics.
The one thing he didn't have on a graph he added in a text format when I asked for it last winter. That was the Temperature Compensated values and Absorb Timer .
On MyMidnite the ones I check off to know what is going on are Battery Voltage, Power, System Amps ( WhizJr Amps) , SOC, Charge state ( absorb , float, etc.) , and Energy .
