Title: 5 x 600v fuse holders in a MNPV6
Post by: aradsma on December 28, 2011, 12:16:22 PM
Hello,

We purchased 10 MNPV6 combiners for use in a project that has 5 strings per inverter.  Is there any way we can not use the front plastic cover plate and put 5 fuse holders into the box?  I know it will work physically, and I know that we can make adjustments to the plastic cover plate so that it will fit on there, and I know that electrically the box will have no problem with it (our strings are each 8.8A short circuit).  We are concerned that we will not get approval from the electrical authority if we are using a box meant for 4 fuse holders.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Well the 2 issues will be: The lack of the 5th space on the positive buss bar and the lack of a dead front. If these 2 items where not an issue I suppose it could be done but my official recommendation would be to use 5 of these: http://www.midnitesolar.com/productPhoto.php?product_ID=144&productCatName=PV%20COMBINERS&productCat_ID=9 (http://www.midnitesolar.com/productPhoto.php?product_ID=144&productCatName=PV%20COMBINERS&productCat_ID=9)
