Title: Forums feedback
Post by: laszlo on January 17, 2012, 02:01:49 AM
I would like to see a more inclusive forum.  I have been  contributing over several months  and yet I am still a "newbie"?  At least I would like a "novice". :)  Could the thresholds be adjusted a bit? And Robin should be global moderator, not a novice. What's up with that? :)

I am also not entirely sure this new format is  a good one. Why do we have to break everything into separate product categories? Some of the categories are very low traffic.  Maybe we can revive a main Midnite forum that captures a lot of action.

Thanks for your consideration.

Laszlo
This is a great Idea lets get some input on the names used with the post count required. I am not crazy about the names given by default:

Newby = 1 post
Jr Member = 40 posts
Full Member = 100 posts
Sr member = 200 posts
Here Member = 500 posts

I also need a name for people like Robin that do not moderate or administrate the board but obviously have tons of experience?

So there you go lets all chip in and see what we can come up with on this front it should be fun.

As for the layout it was a decision I made based on the amount of products we provide and the feed back I was getting at trying to find stuff crammed into to few categories. I also welcome feedback on this as well.

midnite,

Maybe a person in Robin's Category can be referred to as:

Ol' fart

or with more experience

Super ol' fart

or maybe on the porch and experienced:

retired ol' fart

Maybe the young one like me could be:

upstart spring chicken

Hey why don't we select some animal names that reflect intelliegence/experience.

Cheers...
Damani

you could make it up in a solar intensity scale in watts/m^2, but that's allot to write.

i don't think a rainmaker is anyone good when the subject is often power from the sun and other renewable sources with the possible exception of hydro as rain does help hydro.

hmm. how about from low to high,
microwatt
milliwatt
watt
kilowatt
megawatt

ryan and maybe boB and robin too could be controller.
just kicking ideas and who knows it may spawn better ideas.

Something I have been kicking around is there should be a category for people like Niel who may have a smaller number of posts here but has racked up thousands of posts on other forums and is always so helpful and knowledgeable?
