Title: main menu & status buttons not working
Post by: kitestrings on February 20, 2019, 12:16:16 PM
Hi Folks,

We have two Classic 250's operating on a home-built wind turbine.  All is well, except that the main menu and status buttons, the most commonly used, are no longer working reliably.  For awhile we've been able to either push a bit harder, and/or multiple times, but the main menu buttons in particular are getting pretty bad.

I know this has been posted in the past, and we've tried cleaning with light cleaner and Q-tips, but our units are pretty old now, and I'm thinking the keypads are going to need to be replaced.  We have S/N's: CL00415 & CL00418, original DOP: 03/29/11.  They were updated at MS in 2013 prior to actual install.

Please let me know how best to proceed.  Thx, ~ks

Yeah, can either fix the MNGP by sending it back OR maybe Ryan is looking at sending you another keypad.

They're not hard to replace.

That's what I was hoping.  Thanks for the prompt response.  ~ks

Just a quick shout out and thank you to Ryan & boB for sending us the replacement keypads.  Got them yesterday.  Popped them in today (after clipping the rubber posts as suggested in an earlier email on the subject), and we're good as new!

We shouldn't have waited so long.  I was envisioning more of an ordeal...possibly having to ship them back to WA.  This was an easy fix, and we're quite aware that these controllers are well outside of an expected warranty.  We're very grateful.

Excellent !   I knew you wouldn't have a problem replacing those !

Only a wee bit of a pain having to clip but not that bad in a pinch.   The cover helps keep all the guts in, luckily.
