So i have no clue what would be the best way to set this up.
42 x - suniva 260 watt panels
3 x -douglas 48v 540ah forklift batteries.
Alot of random equipment that wont make the cut.
So that is what i am starting with. I have 3 buildings that will need 4800 watts going to each. I planned on using the batterys each night and charging them fully the following day. While still using some left over pv power that isnt charging the batteries to have some power to use also. I will be adding to my system down the line. There is nothing electrical in the hiildings and they sit side by side in a run of 6. I am trying to set up with having them working without having to redo the system down the line. I thought i would have a battery per building and a system to go with it. I can use 12 panels to charge the battery from empty to full in a 10 hr day. I am not opposed to building a power house and having everything in one area. What does the forum say with my idea?... i have the batteries and panels already what options do i have available?
First question... are you in the tropics or the frozen North (or South) and how many hours of sunlight will you be getting on Dec 22?
The deeper you cycle those batteries the less life they will have. For optimum longevity the batteries need to be not hot, and ideally only drawn down 20% except for occasionally taking them deeper for battery health ( stirring up the electrolyte and equalizing) .

I live in the hills of Mendocino county in northern california..
I know the deep cycle batteries shouldn't be drained past 80%. But I thought I read somewhere that the 48v battery should be drained way down each day used. Then give it a full charge because they are good for over 5000 charges. And the battery doesn't k ow the diff between a top off charge or a full charge.
here's my observation -
Batteries will only cycle so many watt hours thru them.
You can accomplish that with 2 years of deep cycles, 4 years of moderate cycles or 8 years of shallow cycles.
I too live in Mendonesia and with this storm, I'll be burning diesel this week +
