Title: Classic 250 sharing solar panel output line with another MPPT device
Post by: Bryan on February 15, 2012, 01:15:47 PM
Does anyone have any experience with using a classic 250 sharing solar panel output with another mppt device?  I am wondering if noise, etc, may cause problems with the classic or the other device.  I have in mind sharing approximately 210VDC of 1500watts solar panel ouput between a classic 250 and a 11SQF2 Grundfos DC well pump motor.  I only need a couple hundred watts of battery charging for AC standby system.

Thanks

This has been done twice that I know of once unsuccessfully and once successfully.

The Unsuccessful one was just simply wired such that the PV was connected to the Classic and Grundfos at the same time. The Classic was driving backwards into the Pump and broke.

The successful time the customer used a relay to switch the pv to one or the other and controlled this relay with the Aux output in the Classic.

Basically there needs to be some isolation between the 2
