Title: Classic 250 - Request Advice
Post by: TymerTopCat on February 25, 2021, 12:55:53 AM
Hi, I have a DC Solar Classic charge controller.

I upgraded the firmware on the Classic using the latest Firmware from the Midnight Solar website, Version 2193 and MNGP 2186. I have since realized via this forum, that this classic was a custom unit built for DC Solar. And I probably should not have done the upgrade.

Question:
Should I keep running the latest firmware, or should I flash the system back to the original?

Note: I was unable to save the original firmware using the Upgrade Software / USB.

Why did I update the firmware?

Because the BTS battery Sensor did not work, I thought maybe upgrading the firmware might fix this problem. After upgrading the firmware, the battery sensor still did not work, this is when I called Todd.

I currently have the Classic connected to 1 (370 Watt) solar panel (Just testing it), and charging a 12 volt battery. The Classic seems to be working perfectly, except for the Battery Sensor. Todd and I did a little testing but I was unable to test the sensor properly at the time. I think the sensor is working, but I will make ohms test again using smaller leads.

If I need to revert back to the old firmware, I would need the DC Solar version firmware.

Thanks

-Russ

Updating the firmware is no issue, The DC Solar units used the same firmware as production Classics so you are good.

Can you explain the BTS doesn't work, Does it not show at all or is it way off?

Some of these units set around a long time, Even maybe outside from rumors I have heard I would plug and unplug the BTS several times and even try some contact cleaner inside the jack if needed.

tymer, did you program the temperature voltage offset for the battery?
because if not, the temperature sensor does "not work"
