I have an existing SolarEdge inverter which has an AC disconnect mounted on the outside. The AC disconnect goes to my main breaker panel. I am going to get an Midnite AIO hybrid inverter which I plan on AC coupling the existing SolarEdge inverter on to the hybrid inverter. The Midnite will be mounted in my garage.
Do I need the AC disconnect for the old inverter that is going to be AC Coupled into the Midnite? The Midnite will have an AC disconnect and an emergency stop button mounted on the outside.
My general theory is yes you need the disconnect, I forget the NEC article now but for external AC appliances you need a Disconnect that is within xx feet and in site of the piece of equipment it controls.
Ok, thanks. I'll keep it to be safe.
