I'm a newbie when it comes to solar inverters. I have an existing SolarEdge inverter that backfeeds to the main breaker panel with a 30a breaker. I am going to upgrade my solar by adding MN15-12KW-AIO hybrid inverter. I'm not sure what is the best way to connect the existing SolarEdge inverter.
What are the pros and cons for AC coupling your an existing inverter instead of backfeeding it into the main panel?
If the MN15 is getting installed with additional panels and a battery, that's great, the Solaredge AC coupled could best manage charging and usage while still pulling in some efficient DC charging...
But if the only charging source is the solaredge, you better have a lot of excess solar compared to consumption because you will be very inefficient charging a battery. DC panels get converted to AC on the solaredge=loss... AC at MN15 gets converted back in to DC to battery... Then back in to AC for consumption=more loss.
If you don't have those scenarios, it might be better to replace the solaredge inverter with the MN15... Mn15 says it supports rapid shutdown, probably thru Tigo devices, so if you have SE optimizers you would need to pull those.
