Title: Midnite classic settings for lithium
Post by: drewdavis on August 13, 2024, 03:47:36 AM
Hi Guys,

I'm in the process of setting up 14S Chevy Volt battery packs for our off grid system to replace our aging lead acids. I'd like to keep it as simple as possible which means avoiding a BMS.

Has anyone set up a lithum battery pack before with midnite classic 150s?

I'd be interested in your settings.

Bulk Volts

Abosrb Volts

Absorb time

Rebulk setting

Output amps (our lead acid setting is 88.0)

Input amps (our lead acid setting is 99.0)

T-comp min (our lead acid setting is 52.8V)

T-comp max (our lead acid setting is 61.0V)

Thank you!

I use 16s LifePo4 batteries and am not familiar with the Chevy volt battery packs or their lithium chemistry so can't offer advice on setpoints.
I don't understand why you would not want to have a bms ?
Compared to when I started with lithium batteries, a bms now is inexpensive ,flexible in settings, offers cell level monitoring, and of course protects the battery pack making things much safer as well.
