Title: Alarm when forcing sweep
Post by: Hockey on September 18, 2024, 05:57:25 PM
2 Classics installed.   One plays an annoying alarm when I force a sweep.  One does not.

ALARM:
2186 MNGP firmware.
2193 classic firmware

NO ALARM:
1821 MNGP Firmware
1849 Classic firmware

Not a big deal, but curious why.

There is a firmware that does that whenever a button is pushed.
I know Bob had posted a different firmware that fixed that issue. But not sure it ever made it into the ones that they have on the website.
I can look and see if I can find a link for it.
But just so you know - it doesn't have anything to do with something being in alarm.

The older firmware1849  you have may have been before voice updates. That might be why it doesn't make the noise because that seems to be when it started. You can look at this post - I have the 2245 update on one of my classics. The other Classic has a lithium firmware update that Bob was working on - but it was never officially released because some people had some kind of problem with it . Mine never did and worked okay. That lithium update is 3800 .
I think you would be okay with 2245 if you just want to get rid of that tone .

I rarely force a sweep...   As i recall, it typically happens automatically every 3 mins?  Just wondering why, and glad to hear it is not warning of an error.

I think you will also hear that alarm noise if you push some of the other buttons on the MNGP

Yeah, that SIREN (very annoying) was put there and it should NOT have been put there.

Yes, the newer firmware has issues that I have not been able to track down because I cannot get my Classics to exhibit those problems here.  \

Did the Classic still force a sweep ?

Yes, it still sweeps.
