Title: Places to Buy
Post by: keyturbocars on January 07, 2011, 07:57:24 PM
Has anyone seen the Classic 150 for sale online yet?

I've seen different places listing it, but last I checked I didn't see any in stock to order.

they may not show up as in stock if they were preordered and are going right out the door. your best bet is to call one of the places and ask them if they have any extras to sell to you or see about preordering.

Good point Neil.  They are probably spoken for in advance and flying out the doors as soon as dealers get them.  I'm sure some people have been eagerly waiting for years - long before I got into RE.

I did send a message to Infinigi.com to see if they planned to stock the Classic soon.  They carry other Midnite products (don't see the Classic listed yet), and I've had good experiences with them in the past.  Great pricing and great service.

I called maverick and got an answering machine.  Left contact info and they did not get back to me.

Also sent them an email also no reply.

I am really interested as well as where to buy them.

I was just signing on to post the same exact thread.

I looked here to see if I could get more leads http://www.midnitesolar.com/distributors_stocking.php

But no sure how up to date that list is as I see maverick solar is not on there.

Anyway I am really interested in picking 2 of these controllers up.

Main selling points for me is the webserver built in as well as the flexibility of the unit.  It seems like midnite developers have their hands on the product.  Not just develop it, drop it, and move on.  So issues I think would be fixed and unit improved.  Rather than say outback as boB and company do not work there anymore, same goes for Xantrex and Solar Guppy.  I really like that developers communicate with the community.  I really do think this will iron out any issues that may come up as well as make the item better. It is better for developers /technicians to hear the issues directly from those having them rather than through a 3rd party(boss, etc).

Anyway really excited to see product finally coming to market.  And would re issue the question of original poster. Where can these be located

Need 2 controllers fairly soon.

Just when I thought Outback was the best :'(, now the image is shattered.  IF I was important  ::) I would ask someone to keep me informed of personnel changes and new company upstarts.

That's what I am saying, I feel like Jack standing on the ground and looking up the beanpole, or in this case the grapevine.

I've ordered a Classic 150 from whosalesolar in December.  They had no stock at the time.  Several days ago they said that their shipment was lost in shipping,  who knows where.  I dunno if they order direct (this was kinna implied by Robin),  or through a distributor.

Am not complaining,  tho.    Waiting for Santa.        Vic

maverick solar  $xxx
the best price I've found is at www.solarpanelstore.com  $xxx !!

Please post if you've found it cheaper.  I just emailed sunelec to see if they plan to stock it.

Edited to remove price.

Just remember that the less you pay, the less you get supported.  The great thing about resellers like Maverick is that they have real human beings who can answer real questions.

I have received my Classic 150.   It was ordered from wholesalesolar.com in December.

As a note,  wholesale solar requires the signature of the addressee (at least on CC orders).  I noticed this fact on their Terms section of the order confirm,  and called them to say that this WOULD NOT WORK FOR ME.   They said OK,  we'll fix that in the order notes.

Upon returning from my off grid site,  there were three delivery attempt notices from UPS,  including the Final Attempt notice.  The order notes in the order did not work.

For many of we off griders,  being present to sign for a package is nearly impossible -- at least it is for me.  Think that this is a becoming more a common event,  as the CC clearing houses will not cover fraud,  and put this back on the seller.  The seller does not want to cover any fraud cost,  as their margins are too small as it is.   So beware of this -- it has happened several times in the past 15 days,  usually with orders from the smaller firms.  Think that larger solar sellers do enough business with the CC clearance houses that different limits or terms may apply.

Not trying to rag on wholesale,  but  I would not order from a vendor with such terms,  and others here may have similar concerns.   Bottom line:  I have a new Toy,   Thanks Midnite !     Vic

JWDUKES - Our site is www.SolarPanelStore.com (http://www.solarpanelstore.com), which you've run across already. (By the way, tallgirl makes a good point regarding support, and we are also real humans who enjoy interacting with and helping our customers!!  ;D) I'm hoping to receive my first units next week, of which we still have some that are unallocated.

Hi Vic - Glad to hear you were taken care of, hope you're doing well!

That is a very good price ($637.50) at www.SolarPanelStore.com .

I was charged $610 (including shipping) from Sun Electronics, but I've heard that Sun Electronics has raised the price are now selling them for over $700.  Sun Electronics was a little hard to deal with too.  They were going to e-mail me quote & invoice, but then they didn't.  I kept having to call back.  They seem like they are too busy.

Just now see that the solarpanelstore has two IN STOCK Classic 250s:

Just FYI,  Have no association with them,  other than having been a happy customer in the past.

A few years back we upgraded our PV system, and went to 48V.  We bought from Fire Mountain Solar mainly because they were the most competitive, paricularly on the Outback equipment.

http://www.firemountainsolar.com/

We ordered our Classic's (2-250's) from Fire Mountain Solar on 3/29/11.  They were in my yard yesterday.  I guess we've been mooned.  Now I've got to figure out where they go, how to wire/configure - stacked for wind in this case - communications, etc.  The fun begins.

We've had terrific service from Fire Mtn.  No affliation; just pleased.

I ended up getting mine from Sun Electronics for $xxx + $24 shipping.  The service from the guys in Florida (Louis Prophete and John Kimball [the owner]) was indeed TERRIBLE.  After 4 weeks of email correspondence saying that "so & so was out of town for the week", "we don't have it in stock", "we'll drop ship it to you", and other b.s., I gave Jay a call in the Arizona office and it showed up at my doorstep a week later!  $xxx was the price they quoted me a couple months ago, but now I think they ask for over $xxx.
It was packaged nicely and looks great.  I have my doubts concerning the reliability of the plastic hanger (the controller is HEAVY) and the "turbo stack" is flimsy, but that's nothing major yet.  I'll post pictures when I get it all figured out and installed in my R.V.  Thanks MidNite for all your hard work!

Edited to remove price.

Robin asked me to remove the prices that where to low to advertise from this thread so I just removed all of them rather than doing the Math and will ask that no body post the cost of a Classic they where sold or quoted that is not advertised and then we need to make sure it is correct.
