I just installed an E-panel and I am not clear how to properly use the "Bypass" and "inverter" breaker switch in conjunction with the generator input breaker. Is there an operations manual for the E-panel or somewhere to find the information.
Thanks
The single AC in breaker is simply a disconnect for the generator. Allowing you to not start or stop the generator under load. The Bypass slider will take the AC in and Connect it to the AC out thus bypassing the inverter. This is more of a worst case device. Say the inverter needs service or replacing turn the bypass to bypass and the ac in breaker off and everything is safe to work on and the house is getting powered from the generator/grid

Thank you. If the inverter is off and the system is feed by the generator, will the batteries still be charged by the charge controller, or does the inverter need to be on?
The generator only charges through the inverter the solar panels charge through the charge controller. So if the inverter is off it will not charge. But if the bypass is bypassed and the AC in breaker is on the inverter will still charge.

Great, thank you very much!

Yes, on the E-panel, CC will charge your batteries even when your inverter is Off and your DC disconnect is Off.
It doesn't matter if your inverter is On or Off...
