I've experienced this issue twice now. Other two weeks, battery is charging everyday and all is fine. One day, the inverter is not charging the battery per time schedule so I change settings on the inverter and nothing will get it to charge, not even force charge from grid.
I turn the breaker off, power off the battery and then turn on the breaker and power on the battery and it starts charging again. Short of sniffing the can bus and looking at the pylon flag to see if charging is disabled, has anyone experienced this?
What inverter are you using? Charge controllers?
How many batteries are there and if more than one, are they daisy chained via data cables?
What voltage is present on the battery in its "non-charging" state?
How do you know it is not charging?
🤓
I'm paired with the mn15 aoi and only have 1 16kwh battery using the can communication with Midnite batteries selected. I know it's not charging because I have a victron smart shunt online.
After a power down and up of the battery, it immediately starts charging.
I am on 0517 firmware for the bms btw.
You have more info that most since you have the Victron Smart shunt. You can look at the Trends tab via the VictronConnect app and map the voltage and current at time the MidNite AOI and / or the PF16 decides to start to taper the charge current. It would be interesting to see what voltage and current MidNite considers to 90% SOC.
Otherwise, in Closed Loop, unless the details are published (and they don't appear to be), you have the data available to you in real time.
Please, let us know what you find out...
I do have closed loop and 90% is when it tapers to around 1kw charge. See this thread: https://midniteftp.com/forum/index.php?topic=7418.0
If the forum didn't make it so difficult to post pictures, I would be doing so already.
Anyways, this particular issue is that the batteries are refusing to charge until I cycle the bms. I need that can bus sniffer.

I got a Canable type usb canbus adapter. I haven't gotten back to my project of making a python script that will read hawkes bay or other canbus. ( I mean having chatgpt write script with help from me ) But it does get the data in from the canbus port , I can see that part.
