Title: Discover Batteries Owners - Closed Loop with "The One"
Post by: ryanp on May 27, 2025, 11:50:43 AM
Earlier this year, I refreshed my aging and failing Magnum MS4448PAE with the new Midnite AIO. I had an investment in 3 existing Discover AES Rack Mounts that were paired with the Magnum (open loop). The batteries were a little over a year old when my Magnum started having issues. Unfortunately, none of the inverters that Discover natively supported with closed-loop comms were a great option for my situation (much longer story here).

I knew when I purchased the Midnite AIO that I wouldn't have closed-loop comms. I spoke to both Midnite and Discover engineers about supporting each other, with not much interest.

Long story short, I ran in open-loop for a couple of months while I worked on a software "bridge" to get the Discover batteries Lynk II talking the Pylontech protocol which is supported by Midnite AIO's (and many other inverters).

I've been running in closed-loop for the last couple of months with great success. I've open-sourced the software if other's find themselves in the same situation and could benefit from my work.
