Title: Rosie is dead.
Post by: HIT99 on October 04, 2026, 12:11:20 PM
My Rosie died early yesterday evening.
No LED. No MNGP2.
I didn't measure anything too hot with an IR thermometer but it had time to cool down.

No significant load. A microwave was used (1200watt) before the event and I think the cycle completed.

No battery alarms.
MPPT recorded a low around 53V.

Tried restarting by cycling the inverter battery breaker.
Inverter off (FP switch). No ac loads connected.
Solar assistant disconnected.

The fan comes on momentarily . LED blinks. MNGP2 backlight and then goes dead.

Offgrid
Installed: May 2024
Rosie MNGP2 fw:  25.x.x ( I forget the exact )
Solar Assistant:

Charge controller: Victron MPPT
Battery: RUiXU 600ah approx 88% 53.5V. CAN connected to Victron and not

I can't remember what I have for LBCO etc but it is a lot lower than that.

Any tips for diagnosing before I rip it off the wall?

- corrupt FW? Factory Reset jumper?

Did you check all your cable connections to breakers and anywhere else ?
Look for loose crimps in ring terminals ,etc.
I would use meter and check the voltage at various points and also at the terminals on the Rosie to rule out voltage drop as it starts up.
Go to Midnite and start a repair ticket - the techs will know what else you should try before you disconnect everything .
I don't have a big rosie so can't make any other suggestions.

I did use a multimeter (Fluke 115) to capture the max/min on startup. I had to do it twice as the captured "Min" is whatever the capacitors were. The second time they were precharged and the drop was mV.
I measured inside the inverter - after the E-Panel connections.

All the connections were tight (pulling on it). I will re-torque since I have it open.

does the mngp2 show up in the updater app ?
That would mean the bluetooth is still running.

No.
I don't think the mngp2 has power long enough for that to start up.

I disconnected the whizbang and measured the voltage on the 1-wire.
It to is alive  for only the same period . 7V or so.

I verified that the  MNGP2 is healthy using a bench power supply. So I am sure Rosie is not supplying power to the Display.

I have an RMA number and will get the Rosie to Midnite in a day or so.

I got my Rosie back from Midnite - fixed under warranty. The aux power supply died for some reason. The aux power supply has been repaired and updated along with a few other H/W updates. My unit is an "older" revision.

Besides the inconvenience of no power (besides a generator) and an unscheduled "vacation" to the city - the process and dealing with Midnite was prompt and straightforward.

I will head back "beyond the grid" tomorrow and put it back into service and hopefully run for years to come.

Thanks for the update. I recently picked up a little rosie as a spare inverter in case anything happens to big rosie and it has to go back to Washington for warranty work.

I have my Rosie up and running as before.

A backup inverter of some kind is a good idea if you live far away from everything as I do.  It is hard to eliminate all the critical points of failure. Our propane dependency has decreased over the decades which has changed the solar from nice to have to critical.
