Title: SPD300 marked as DC
Post by: longtimber on October 10, 2015, 11:23:34 AM
We have some SPD300's that are marked as DC. Can they be used to protect 240VAC?
Is this a different product that the ones we have been using.
Also  Is a 3 phase SPD in the works?  We use 2 now and double up on L1.

Longtimber,

This is a recent midnite change.   The MN300-DC will protect 240 volt AC as well  as the MN300AC or the old MN300

The only difference is that the led's on the MN300 and MN300AC are connected between L1 and ground and L2 and ground, when used on 240 volts both led's will light but when used on 120 volts AC or on DC only one led will light, the assessor still protects that neutral or negative wire, only the led does not light......only one led on

The MN300-DC is a bit different.   The protection elements are still L1 (red) to ground (green) and between L2 (black) and ground.       But the led's are wired red to black and black to red.  This will light both led's when used on DC on 120 volts ( only one hot wire )

My understanding is that you can use either one but the AC version will not light both led's when used in different circumstances.

I am using MN300-DC  for my MNPV6 and another at output of Exeltech inverter (120 v.a.c.)
Protecting my most expensive stuff first,
