Title: Classic 150 lite and classic 150

I have one of each reg.
Will they communicate with each other when connected?
Does the lite have the same amperage peak as the classic 150?
I have fiddled with the online system calculator for a couple of system designs.
What I have are 20 x 220 watt Hyundia panels, voc 33.60 volts, vmp 27.6 volts, isc 8.50 amps and imp 8 amps.
The calculator says I may not have enough voltage when using just one panel in strings of 10.
So am I better off having 2 panels in series and 5 sets in the strings?
Or is the calculator just over compensating?
I am running a 24 volt battery bank and a 3 kw latronics inverter.

the rule of thumb is a 12 v battery needs ~ 17 to 19Vmp, 24 V needs 34 to 38 Vmp so 1 panel will not do the deed properly!  the ratings of your panel are Lab type results, the reality is a lot lower, it's in the range of 70% + -  ....

Followme allows them to share charge state information. ie they will both go to float at the same time, and not be fighting each other. Theres are few other things followme does but its not my area.

Yes. The lite lacks only the MNGP, and arc fault.  The MNGP however has the following implications:
- real time clock. Lites cant keep time when unplugged.
- buzzer for GFCI. Lites dont beep upon ground faults.

Wb is as always bang on. 60 cell panels are best in strings of two (2S) for 24V. If your cable distance is outrageous then 3S. BTW at 4.4kWp you might look at the benefits of a 48V system. Ok that latronics unit is a nice. But you could use a single classic using 48V.

All I have is the latronics atm. I know 48 volt is more efficient, but cash limits apply.
Panels were only $50 each x 20, inverter $1,000, midnite regs $1650 for the 2 and $3500 for the Trojan T105 batteries.
I can not afford to change the inverter atm. And that being said I will probably try to pick up another 3 kw 24 volt unit anyways.
A good bank of cells to make up 48 volts is a veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy expensive exercise especially here in australia.
I am looking at having a go at making 2 volt super heavy duty lead acid batteries. I have access to 2 tonne of lead, and some other scrap lead and can make moulds etc. If successful will make a 12 volt bank and then add to it.
The tubs are the biggest problem.
I have a few old raylitte cells and we are going to drain and cut the top off one to have a look at the grid configuration in them. Could reuse the old raylitte tubs I suppose, but they are a bit small for what I had in mind. Was looking to make 2 volt cells around 250 kgs with acid included.
