All new members need to answer a few questions on Midnite stuff , basic stuff to what colours / colors are the birdhouses etc. then a EIR ohms law one to join. (if BRAT is the ground sweeper , KID is a tree climber who are the Parents ? )
They surly can't just join & post spam , so far all I've seen is movie stuff , Im waiting for the X-rated to start to show up.

The problems I see, If I ask what colors can you buy a birdhouse in? The answer could be written several ways. I can only give one way as correct so I tried to balance aggravation vs some thinking. I also dont see a way to make them send me a paragraph. If it gets worse I will work on some plugin or something to see if I can get it.
The thought behind the new category is, They usually target the first category, So this gives em a place to put that crap and it wont bother everyone till Tom and I nuke it

heck, you might just as well break it up into categories too like phones, sex, phone sex, tablets, pharmaceuticals, vitamins, and maybe one that says other. put a few fake ones in them to lure them and when they post you have the ip address to ban. you will need to delete this as some of them read.
blocking IPs brings no succsess, tried this on own homepages / servers, this is a djungle and you might block ip ranges they are today russian, tomorrow from germany and so on
Best would be a captcha + questions for the first i.e. 50 posts for the new member.

They need to do as much spam as possible. If they need to much time on a website, they leave and spam the next website.

Well, we locked down auto register and pretty much do it all manually now After we get an email from a link on the registration page with the user info, Ryan or I will add them manually.
Seems to have knocked the SPAM in the head. ::)

Yes our Web Guy decided to upload some redirct index file Friday at 5 and never checked if it worked I guess. The website was redirecting to a log in we use internally so I removed the index file. The other index file (Yes there was 2) says we are under construction. I decided to leave it till next week for the web guy as its sunny and close to 70 in Maine. 8)

Actually it said under Contruction hopefully it was a typo or do you Americans have different way to spell construction also :)

English was taught in Mainland China & in Russia in the late 80's-90s when I worked in the center of china and a port city of russia .. Many would want to practice with me, one of me , millions of ones who would try to practice . kept my head down & quite gave me my zone.
I would use a different header for a public forum .

One fix that has worked for me, flawlessly, for over three years. It automatically bans SPAMMERs, before you have to deal with them.

I use Invision Power Board. But, I am sure the settings are similar. However, early on, I did request for the coder to add button (feature) to empty the blocked registrations table, so the user no longer had to delete them page by page, in the mod. You may have to get the coder of your version to do the same?
