Title: Low battery measures . Help !!!!
Post by: dcave44 on September 04, 2018, 07:15:10 AM
Hi all ,
I have 4 Rollls 550 in series and one midnite 150 charger
I can not recharge the bank completely . I got Ez Red hydrometer and mi last measure is .1150 and 52v on the charger . I program 58v on bulk , 54v on float and 60v in equalization . the inverter is off and the same measures are maintained . I do not have a temperature sensor , but the battery bank is within 75F to 86F degrees temp constan . Is in charge several days without any change . The system has a little more than 1 month in use. what is missing by programming or is the batteries defective ?
I hope you can help me .
Thanks in advance .

I would probably start by increasing:
Bulk to 61v
Float to 54v
EQ to 64v

Then I would Run an EQ until the SG stops rising in all cells.  You also really need a temperature compensation glass hydrometer.  Like this one

And I think even that hydro is supposes to be read holding in straight up and down.  You appear to be holding it on it's side.  But I really dont know about that one.  I would start by getting a good hydro.

Did you break in your new battery pack as the manufacturers have recommended ? You need to cycle them a few times before they will act properly - wonder if that may be part of the issues.

If you aren't taking enough load off of the batteries and they are basically floating for long period of time then the electrolyte can stratify meaning the acid is not all mixed up properly .

How far down do you draw the batteries every day ? Or do they sit in float for a long time ?  With the inverter off sounds like you have no load on them.

Hi all ,
New reading . I hope the photo comes out in the right direction. has been given EQ 1 time a day to increase the SG . And this is the result . also adjust the EQ to 62.4v , the absorb  60v and the float to 55v . The system is off grip and only 1 mount . I'll be more careful not to drop the SG .
Thanks for you help .

If you have  4 Rolls 550 in series you cooking them at 58V bulk. Use 24V settings instead.
