Title: off grid mini-split installation 3 more photos
Post by: WillEert on October 24, 2018, 12:16:00 PM
Three more photos. The display on the indoor unit indicates that the unit is running on DC (green color square) and is getting 100% of its power from DC 9 (5 green bars). If running in hybrid mode it will show a red square above the green square and I assume then show how much power is DC (fewer green bars). I would guess if on full AC it would only show the red square. The number is the temperature setpoint of the unit. I push the heat into our buildings during the day and then let them cool off overnight. So far this strategy is working very well.

From a hackers perspective there is an I2C header on the PCB. Someone with more skill than me could likely make this device really do tricks if the code to control it could be determined.

Manitoba winter... The minisplits were working well and producing good heat at -23C the other day. For an off grid person this is very pleasing.
