Title: How to use RS485 / CAN ports?
Post by: Paniolo on August 23, 2021, 04:54:52 PM
How can we use the RS485 and CAN ports? The manual shows two RS485 ports and a CAN bus port on the MS3548DIY here:

I'd like to use mine for closed loop monitoring of LFP battery, for example, if possible.

Just got off a Tech support call - found out they had good intentions when they put in all these ports but abandoned them a couple of weeks ago in a meeting except plans for bluetooth monitoring via some device that you'll be able to buy from them. I bought my unit because I thought it was having all this connectivity - at least in the pipeline - but it seems to have been misleading on their part and a mistake on mine.

The RS485 speaks Modbus, I will be publishing the documents today or Monday. That said I would love to know who you talked to in support as we never had a plan for communications on this product line and have not had any meetings on it.

We will also most likely have a wifi dongle for them soon.

I have added the Modbus info for the DIY inverters here

I will be testing out the wifi adapter as well as USB communications over the next week
