Retrofiting my 40' Bus with 48v system to run everything in it.

Going to Retro Fit my Motorhome with 48v batteries so I can power everything in the coach from batteries if needed, and also to use grid assist to power bigger loads when In campground that only have 15/20 or 30 amp power.  I will be moving the existing 12v 3000w inverter into the house to use like a backup Genny via the generator input if ever needed. 

Feed Transfer Switch into AC inputs L1 & L2
   Shore Power (SP) 240v 50 Amp or 120v 30am or 20/15 amp
           Onan Quiet Diesel 35amp 2 legs of 120v (not 240v)

Will 50-amp SP pass thru to circuit panel without any change or restrictions?
       
What will Pass thru from Genny with its weird 120v/120v Single Phase power? 

What will the Battery charger provide with that weird Genny power scenario?

When on lower amp SP, dog bone (Y) will be in use for 30, 20 and even sometimes 15 amp power.  Will Grid Assist, Power assist bump up the available power from Battery?

MNGP2 programing device.  No manuals that I can find.   Is that WiFi capable or BT or Ethernet?   Do I have to be in front of that small screen to make changes, say to tell it my SP is 20 amp and to supply battery power when needed.   Can I do that from a phone or laptop?  Bigger screens are a lot nicer as these eyes get older..

Someday the darling wife wants one of those big 240v Wolf Induction cooktops in the bus. I am trying to put that off as long as I can, but for now, I have to make sure I could run one if I had enough battery...  Yes, we might need to win the lottery prior..

Yes the Rosie 7048 will actually pass 60 amps per leg so 10A more then the SP

Onan will pass through what it can produce, The limit will be the Onan not the Rosie. Keep in mind if you feed it 120 on both L1 and L2 it will output that also so in your case you may want to feed the generator to just L1 and let Rosie make L2 depending on how many 240V loads you have and how important it is they run when the generator is on.

Rosie would charge to the max you program, So it would power the loads from the generator and use any excess to charge the battery. 35A at 120V is 4,200 watts on one leg if you feed only L1 as mentioned above that would get you 60 amps of charge (Max of one leg)

Yes you would set Grid Support to Breaker (Its that way by default) then as you turn down the AC breaker size it will limit what it takes and pull the rest from the battery.

At this time the adjustments are on the MNGP2 we are working towards basic adjustability from the phone now

I'll likely be connecting the Genny to both legs, as that operates everything I currently have today in passthru.  I may need to change that if my DW insists on the Wolf... But as of today 120v on both legs works for us. 

If I configure the AC inputs with the 2 legs of Genny 120v will I get 120a to the battery's, if not what will it charge them at?

No issues using a 15amp shore power circuit? We see them in Canada and we are traveling there next summer.  We could never run our AC's there, and they would have been helpful.

Lower amperage Shore Power 15/20/30amp uses what we call a dog bone, basically a Y connector for the AC input, will the Rosie understand that and still feed both output legs with battery juice if needed? 

MNGP2.   Can I use it down at the Rosie for initial setup and then move it up into the living area with a long (assuming ethernet) cord?  Or do I lose something?   If that's a problem, can there be two MNGP2's connected, one inside, the other at the inverter?

You can mount the mngp2 anywhere you like, or have multiples, just need the ends of the canbus chain terminated.

I got my Rosie M with am mngp2, that ended up being a spare when I got my hawkes bay 90. So now I have that mngp2 in the living room, with the hawkes bay mngp2 right next to rosie in the laundry.

Its very easy to read the mngp2 display its not a regular lcd screen more like a neon effect.

The only thing I don't like for my remoted mngp2 is that you can't turn the backlight all the way off  to dark. Probably some kind of  hardware issue. Right now I have the hawkes bay in power room and mngp2 remoted about 20 feet of cat5 to another room. And I have a raspberry pi3b+ running python code plugged into the mngp2 with a canable usb to canbus adapter to get the data and publish it via mqtt to my home assistant computer on the network. The code should also work with a rosie too if the code was modified to get the data wanted.

You should take note of what kind of generators all those people who have troubles have.
And what capacity they are and what simultaneous loads are on them.   
I think I have seen where generator output frequency can affect things .
But I haven't followed it all closely.
So many variables in a system sometimes hard to compare one to another apples to apples.

So far,  they all seem to be Onan Generators, which is what I have in my Motorhome...  
Update, I found this on this forum from a midnite person:  Rosie is picky about some brands of generators, Cumins/Onan is one it does not like and refuses to connect & charge.  Rosie says NOPE to my Onan 3500 in my RV.
