Classic SNMP Monitoring Option

With our usual winter energy production issues coming up we finally went looking for some way to monitor our dozen classics with SNMP.

In case any one else is looking, a company called Wingpath makes a MODBUS to SNMP converter that works beautifully. We've only just started playing with it, but it looks like it will finally unlock all that fantastic data produced by the Classics. Their software can poll the registers at a specified interval and map it to a user created OID. We can then take that SNMP data and graph it in our network management software creating high/low thresholds and alerts. We can also aggregate all the data to create a total network energy generation/consumption dashboard.

Once we get things up and running i'll let you all know how it works.

Thanks, Devo !   I would love to hear how it works.

We should also look into this because this has been asked for before by a couple other customers.

I wonder what version of SNMP it is ?  There were a couple different versions, the latest having quite
a bit more security as I remember.
