See pics below. Just fixed backyard solar panel pergola. Last six panels on order (4 strings of six Renogy RNG-100D panels...24 total). Need a Disco combiner box for wiring up PV lines into one feed (into my Classic 200). Would like to ground it and have lighting protection. Prices? Size? Type? It needs to be rated for outside use. Thanks...

Hi Chris,

Since I am NOT an expert on Discos,  will comment;

It appears that the MNPV4HV 3R Basic Disco would fit your needs.  It would be full-up,  so it would not accommodate adding strings later,  or adding a second output circuit for an additional CC.

It uses Fuses,  only  --  not circuit breakers.

It is not inexpensive,  but appears that you are really hard-wired at four strings of six PVs,  and given the PV Voc for strings of six,  as you know,  you could most probably not get by with 150 V breakers in an MNPV6,  under cold conditions.

If you could do five strings of five PVs each (yea,  you would lose the output of one PV)  you could probably get by with an MNPV6-150.  Although,  we do not know the coldest weather conditions at you site,  weather you need Inspections,  or what Code might be in use at your location (if any).  And this configuration would probably a wiring mess,  as you probably have always planned on strings of six ... Six strings of four would use all of your PVs,  and still should be able to charge your battery well ...  might be easier to reconfigure the PV cables,  too.

You probably have seen the MN Disco Brochure:

Just a drive-by post,  FWIW.  Good Luck,  Vic

Hey Vic - Thanks. I am using 150v DC breakers in my Baby Big Box in the garage from that array...no issues with VOC at all. I also used the MS Classic sizing chart...VOC is under 150v. I would prefer to use breakers instead of fuses...and a birdhouse. Thanks again.
