Hi everyone,

I am using a Chinese wind turbine, 36v 450 watt, on a 24v LTO battery bank with 24v minimum voltage and 30v max voltage.

I have tried this wind graph but the turbine doesn't go above 300 watts in high winds, as the lower voltage of the battery is kind of braking it.

Can you please recommend another wind graph? Being a 450 watt turbine on 36v I don't expect it to deliver more than 20A.

Thank you so much.

What is the rated wind speed for 450 watts ?  If you run it into your bank and keep the turbine loaded to the battery voltage under all wind speeds, then it "should"  get over 400 watts (I would think) but only at rated wind speed for that higher power.

At wind speeds much above that rating, the turbine may stall.  Is this a furling wind turbine ?
It may also be that the turbine manufacturer lies about their ratings ?  Which turbine is it ?

How high of winds do you think you are getting at the turbine ?  That will matter quite a bit.  Wind speed never sits still of course and will be different at the turbine than measured somewhere else, even if semi-close to the turbine.

This is the problem of trying to create a wind power curve without a real wind tunnel OR lots of fiddling.

Also, is the turbine rated at 450 watts at 36 V ?  OR is it rated at 450 watts into a nominal 36V battery bank ?

It may be that you need to reduce the higher voltages.

A lot of these turbines are rated at 25 MPH or maybe even higher.  Also, this is most likely with laminar wind flow and not turbulent wind which is what you would expect if the tower is close to the ground.  How high up is your turbine ?  Are there trees near by ?
