Hello

I have a Midnite charge controller working since 2017, no changes made since then. Since last week, im getting this two messages about OCP or VOC active and is not charging my battery bank. I live in the Caribbean, so I guess VOC should not activate based on temperatures. I tried to check my cables and as far as I know and see everything looks correct.

Anything particular that I may be missing? Something else should I look? Suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

My setup is as follows

10 solar panels, Canadian Solar
1 Schneider Inverter 48V
Midnite Charge Controller 250
200amp Lithium batteries (Battleborn)

If more info is needed, let me know

Hello...

I am not sure what the Voc message is about ?

Sometimes you will see an OCP  (Over Current Protection) message and is "usually" temporary and unimportant.

Could you take a picture of the Voc message maybe ?

What is the PV input voltage ?

When did you add the Lithium battery?  200Ah is a bit small for a 5848 or 6848 Inverter.  My rule of thumb is 100Ah of battery for every KW of Inverter.  If you just switched to Lithium that probably is the issue. BMS will open briefly when say, an Air Conditioner is turned on, battery is turning off and the Classic is being asked to provide the startup current for the heavy load, which it can't. Too many OCP's and the Classic will blow out its transistors... About $300USD with high shipping costs to fix, and no power for a few weeks...Unless you are one of the smart ones and have a spare Classic in the spare parts box...

Thanks for the quick response guys. I was expecting yesterday to see the error and no luck but at the same time all good to not seeing it.

I was all day Sunday checking connections and cleaning some of them, looks like this was the culprit of my problem or at least for the moment. For sure I will keep monitoring the system and let you know when I have more evidence.

Thanks for the suggestion Wizbandit, the system is using batteries that way since was first installed. My wife and I are aware to not push the system to much when we are full solar.

Now, that being said, recently with the unusual hot summer we are having, we are using the air conditioner more frequent during the day. Didn't knew we were pushing that way the Midnite to the limits.

SO maybe some good news. We can but hope.

We could all use some good news these days, I'd say !

Keep us posted 😃
