MAC Address and device ID

How do I change the MAC Address and Device ID on a Midite Classic 200?

Sorry I am not positive that this is the correct section to post this but since I am working on connecting my classics to the MyMidNite I decided to start here.

The reason I am asking is that if I go into my MNGP -> Net -> Advanced to grab the MAC Address and device id it shows zeros for both and the mymidnite.com will of course not accept that. I just updated the firmware in May so that should not be the issue. The unit itself is older (installed in 2011). But is working fine and has a wizbang jr attached to it in case that makes a difference.

Any suggestions?

Something doesn't sound right - there should be a mac address in there.
Maybe I see what you are talking about . I get in NET then press next and it shows the GW gateway IP Address, then below it shows the D1 which is the DHCP or Static IP Address for router. Below that is line MM which shows all zeros .
I then press Advanced and shows
Web Access Enabled
MA which is the mac address but is all filled in on mine .
If on yours you have all zeros - then something seems goofy - you may want to contact Midnite support and ask them about that because I don't know why you wouldn't have a Mac Address from your Classic.
When you did your update did you do a VMM reset? That is powering on the Classic while holding the left and right arrow buttons in . Which would set all your parameters back to default so make note of them in case you do that or back the up with the Local Status app so you can restore them.

Do you have Local Status app ?
If you do it shows mac address and device Id  on the status page , info tab.

I am also now wondering - when you did the update for your Classic - did you do both updates for the Classic and the MNGP ?
This page also tells how to do that VMM factory restore

Hi Larry
Thank you for those suggestions. The short answer is yes I did both of those on both of my classic 200. One has the regularly formatted MAC and device Id's the other one just zeroes. I followed the same procedures that MidNite had outlined for both units. They are both acting normal and all functions including the wizbang jr and follow me seem to work fine.

I did contact MidNite mid last week but have not heard back wich is uncharacteristic for them but that is why I asked the question here.

Thank you

I think maybe it is because you have them in follow me ? Then just the one will go to mymidnite ? Go to the home page on the forums and do a search for my midnite mac address and see what comes up .

well having them in follow me shouldn't be the issue - I just looked at the Classics I have in follow me and they both have mac id and device id .

Hi Larry, thank you for checking this. I may have to call them in case MidNite didn't get my message.

Shortly after the charge controllers were installed back in 2011 one of them had an issue so it was send in and they send me a different refurbished one back.  I believe it is this one but I am not absolutely positive. Not sure if that could have anything to do with the problem at hand.

Sounds like your MNGP is on the wrong firmware.  try updating it again.

Thank you, Wizbandit. I can try that.

I did reply just now, Sorry holiday weekend and I was a little behind going into the weekend. I believe that due to its age maybe somehow we didn't provision it in production. This would have been one of the very first units we built back 15 ish years ago.

Just to point out,
Follow me will not cause MAC and DI to not display the Ethernet portion is totally independent of that.
Mismatched firmware would cause a got comm issue and ALL values to be 0s like battery and PV

The fact it is all doing what it should just not showing a MAC and DI tells me somehow it didn't get provisioned. To check this press Status a few times and see what it thinks the serial # is it should start with CL and match the sticker on the side.

Either way I suspect it needs to come back to be provisioned as noted in my email
