Quote from: rs50pilot on November 30, 2024, 04:50:52 PMMy rosie shutoff last night for no reason. Then she started back up about 45 mins later. Today she shut off again? I don't get it.
The inverter will also skip a charge cycle which causes my bank to go low. She will then shutdown because the batteries are low. Even with grid available she will shutdown. Who knows why. I'm getting tired of it. There is no reason it should be doing this.

I just saw there was a newer beta update. I'm about to sell this thing. Seems Rosie is on the back burner now.
Can you shoot me an email, ryan@midnitesolar.com

I can assure you the Rosie is not on the back burner matter of fact it is front and center at the moment.

I would like to see what the event logs show for codes related to the 45 minute shut down? I would also like to understand your settings more as it sounds like you are running in a similar setup as I am. If it's more convenient you can also call me 360-403-7207 and ask for Ryan

Hang in there pilot. I am sure MN will resolve/solve your issues. I have never been let down in the pass 16-17yrs of excellent customer and product support. I wish I could get all of my equipment from them honestly. I am at the stage where nearly any price is worth the piece of mind. I especially like the fact that they are inclined to field serviceability. This is very important to very remote and off continent users like myself.

Oh yeah...how could i forget to mention the wonderful folks in the chat community that will also support you in your challenges. They are a brilliant and helpful bunch as well.

Damani,
field serviceability is like the holy grail for guy like us on the other side of the hemisphere.

Returns is not an option most of the times as I relates to cost and logistics.

M,

You said it brother. This is why i loved the Magnum, until you couldnt get parts, and why I love the Rosie. More manufacturers need to consider field serviceability in their designs. I would happily pay a premium for this.

After Midnite replaced my original Rosie for doing the power off thing, the replacement has been running more or less correctly. More or less? Yeah, she coughed and gagged a couple of times by shutting down for a minute or two and then restarting.

Happened the other day around 1 in the afternoon. Wife caught it when it happened. I was elsewhere. She yelled "No power in the kitchen!" and by the time I got there Rosie restarted. Hasn't happened since.

Now, I checked the error event codes and got 240, 308,314, and a few more. Cleared the log and so far with crossed fingers she's been running fine.

Now, don't read into my post more than there is. The Rosie inverter is an amazing piece of engineering. Since my wife and I are still connected to the gird, if Rosie has a fit, it's no problem to switch over to grid power until I figure out what got Rosie's panties in a knot.

Now that being said, until this random shut downs can be tracked down and fixed, I wouldn't consider using a MidNite Solar Rosie inverter in a mission critical application.

System one: 7kWp w/ Trina 250 W panels @90 Vdc. Classic 150 to 16-6 V U.S batteries. Trace 5548 sine wave inverter.
System two: 6kWp grid tie with solaredge inverter.
System three: Midnite Brat, two 120 W Astropower modules, 100 Ah battery. Runs the LED streetlight in the back yard.

I would say, when the grid goes down it is mission critical time.  I have my system for BACK UP power.  If she throws a fit when the grid is down, then what good is a back up system.

Mine has been acting fine after that last update.  But I still wish there was code to let the inverter charge whenever there is grid power.  The grid can go down 10 times a day, your batteries could be really low and she will not charge automatically more than once a day.  This drives me nuts.

Rosie will charge anytime ac is present if float time is not set to below 24hrs, Also one can set rebulk to some value that will trigger a new charge as well. There was some discussion on adding a "Force bulk charge if grid is failed for more than 30 minutes and comes back" or something as such

FNG, would be nice if MN would update the Rosie Manuel or perhaps issue a supplement that has all these tidbits of operating details. Seems like the Rosie is capable of so many things that just aren't detailed in the manual or readily apparent when viewing a menu.  I try to read EVERY post dealing with/Rosie/HB/Barc and screenshot these details when you answer specific questions while I await a more comprehensive manual.  Would love to get the most out of these outstanding pieces of equipment!

Our current project is just that, We are calling it the MNGP2 manual but it has menu maps, Use cases and definitons for every setting. Hopefully a couple weeks we will be ready to roll out a preliminary copy of it.

Great news Ryan, thank you!

This will be very welcomed.  I am just shooting in the dark over here.  I think she is setup correctly, but not 100% sure.
