Greetings all,

I'm looking at using the AIO with homebuilt batteries. Eve cells in my own fixture. Can somebody suggest an off-the-shelf BMS that the AIO likes to talk to?

Thanks for the space,

Greg.

Any that you can program to talk to the inverter via pylontech should work. Or at least that is how it is for the Hawkes Bay, Rosie, Barcelona. The new all in one is a bit different so not quite sure. The bms I use is Pace and it can be programmed to protocols for lots of different types of inverters. I believe JKBMS can do that also.
I suggest you watch some videos on Off Grid Garage on Youtube about BMS of different kinds. He analyzes and tests them in detail. The JK inverter bms  seems to be one of the best these days and it has active balancing which is much better than most passive balance types.

I am also building my own battery - got all the parts and jk bms last summer - got the cells from Gobel. Docan Power is selling cells for good price now.
But in the mean time I had asked Gobel how much one of their premade 280 ah batteries cost and it wasn't too much more than all the parts I had bought. I got one and the cells are so well matched compared to other batteries I have. If you haven't gotten your stuff yet, check with Gobel and get a price quote on premade battery . The one I got has a Pace inverter type bms but also has a Neey active balancer in it.
At that time Midnite didn't have their batteries on the market . I am just mentioning this because depending on your end goal and time it is worth considering checking into the prebuilt batteries because in my case for a few hundred more - saving a 2 or 300 is worth doing it yourself when you compared the build quality they had. Not to mention the time.

I can confirm inverter works well with a bms that speaks pylon. It's when you have multiple packs and what the bms firmware does when one pack drops out due to alarms, etc. state of charge aggregation between multiple packs is also a major pain point. I think the charging itself in the midnite AOI is pretty well behaved.
