Title: PV Shade
Post by: jtdiesel65 on January 05, 2012, 03:34:27 PM
Hi,

Can this be disabled? I was seeing this today with a little snow on the panels.  It was switching back and forth. The thing is output when "pv shade" was 0.5a, but I was seeing 4.5 with "bulk mppt".

thx

The newest software upgrade, which should be on our web site in just a few days from now, allows PV shade reporting
to be disabled.

One thing I've noticed in the depths of the Morningstar MPPT settings, is a way to set or fix, the MPPT voltage to a fixed value, which may be useful for semi-obscured panels.

The Classic has this as well there is a couple modes that do this:

U Set VOC % this is where you program a percentage of VOC and it parks there. It will do timed sweeps to see if the VOC has changed and the time interval of these sweeps is adjustable.

Hydro mode has a VMPP voltage set point that you can program and it will park at that voltage and stay there.

The additions to Hydro Mode will be in the firmware release that should be available in about a week.

I am looking into some fuel cells that run on natural or bio gas, so it would be nice to able to explicitly  set the MPPT voltage and have it sit there and not do any sweeps.
