Greets all,  to the forum moderators, have you considered enabling tapatalk on the forums?  It would be handy for those of us with small (mobile) screens.  I looked and the version of the forum software in use is supported.  I don't think there is any cost to enable the basic level:

May I comment from the perspective of a forum administrator; not this one but one that uses the same SMF software as this one?  We've run Tapatalk since October 2012. It apparently does work and some users like it.

From an administrators point of view I don't like a lot of add-on's, or mods, to the basic forum software. Some mods can be a problem when/if the basic SMF software is updated. Some mods sometime don't work well when the basic SMF software is updated.

My logs indicate in two years there were four updates from Tapatalk. For some reason when Tapatalk issues an update it is necessary to do an uninstall of the version in use first and then do a install of the new version. Many other mods don't require an uninstall first. It's not a big deal, but it is anextra step. I'd rather not complicate the job of running the forum. There were a few requests for tapatalk from "power users" so we gave it a try.

And to be honest I don't understand the desire for Tapatalk, but I have never tried it on my phone. I myself don't have any issues with just browsing using the std Android Chrome browser (5" screen). But then I also view the time spent away from the computer as "free" time. I don't do much browsing on the phone, but that is just my preference.

It's all good.  I have not managed a forum, so have no input from that perspective.  If it is a pain, it is not a big deal, just a convenience for some.

The one thing that it does do, is when there is a notification for a topic the user is interested or subscribed to, they can read it on the spot if they desire, with a good size for reading.  With the email notification, the updates are not in the email, just the link to the update.  This is likely a forum administration option as I have seen it both ways.

Either way, I appreciate the time the Midnite folks put into maintaining a forum for us.  Thanks for the feedback.

On some, like VBulletin,  it is user choice, and a pain to get rid of once you choose, I like the simple notification...

ADD: to be clear I am not going to use TapaTalk, I was just making a comment about notifications of new posts...

I will look into it. If it is not a big deal I will install it if there is an interest.
