Hi All,
I'm having a couple of issues since I updated my firmware to the latest version 2096. I noticed that the classic would be charging as usual, then when I checked a little later it had switched to resting. This is happening in full sun.

Also, I have noticed that it stays in absorb even when the charge has dropped below my end amps setting. Then I have to manually put it in float.

Is anyone els having similar issues? Have any ideas as to why this could be happening?

I have to leave town later this week and really need this resolved. Thanks!

Vic

Hello Mechanicalbird,

So,  just after Updating the Classic,  you did do the VMM (Restore to Defaults),  right?  EDIT:  And,  then restore ALL of your settings.  The Local App can make restoration of your settings easy<

Are there ANY other charge sources on this system?

Did you look for the RFR Code?  Here is how and the Reason For Resting Table:
http://kb1uas.com/mnsforum/index.php?topic=2034.0

And assume that the earlier FW version on this system has never had this issue (?).
Have any other changes been made to this system,  other than the new FW?

Have not yet Updated to this FW version,  so have no experience with it.

My guess is it needs a VM (restore defaults)

To do this, first note ALL settings as they will be lost

Now turn of the PV and Battery breakers.
Hold the left and right arrows and tun the battery breaker on.
Keep holding the arrows until it says "Solar Wind or Hydro" on the screen
Follow the instructions on the screen.

Thanks guys. I'm no expert when it comes to this stuff.

I did the restore using left and right arrow keys after I updated firmware to the classic and the mngp.
I didn't do a reset using the jumpers.

I do not use the local app.

As for other charge sources, I have a generator that I use to charge through a magnum inverter. Nothing has changed on that end.

I'm not familiar with the RFR code but will look into it.

The RFR code is 111. I guess that's because I restarted classic.

I looked back through today's log. It looks like it did go into float today but then something happened to make it go into resting mode. Wish I knew about the resting codes earlier!

Vic

Hi Mechanicalbird,

Thanks for the added info.

OK,  so you have restored ALL of your custom settings,  after the VMM  --  Restore to factory Defaults?

Sounds like you are using the WBjr.  Make sure that Aux 2 is set to WBjr,  and the green LED on the WBjr board,  mounted on the Shunt,  is flashing about every five seconds.    AND  that you have setup for the Shunt to be used as the source of the EA.  If the Classic is using its Output current,  instead of using the Shunt,  this could cause the CC to not switch to Float when the current has been reached.

Am assuming that you are using Shunt EA (as provided by the WBjr),  and not the Classic output current EQ function ...   still thinking ...

More later,   Vic

REV 2096 works fine for my three Classic's. Is there another REV coming out soon? What will this one do? Not that I don't mind doing updates...but, will this be a monthly thing?

There "May" be a beta release soon as Engineering is working to kill a couple bugs. But the next planned release of code is the version that adds voice to your classic  8)

Well I know how I feel. (My classics already don't have speakers  ::)  )

Well I feel dumb. The whizbang Jr. was set to classic instead of shunt so that solved the issue of not going to float. Duh!

Still not sure about the resting issue. We'll see if it happens again.

Thanks everyone for helping out a newby!

Hi Mechanicalbird,

Great that you have found the reason for the EA error in exiting Absorb,  thanks for the update on your situation.   We are ALL learning!

There are quite a few,  somewhat subtle settings that are very easy to not remember to reset.

Just started using the Local App two weeks ago.  One very good reason to use the LA,  is that it can import ALL of your custom settings,  and after an FW Update and VMM,  you can have the LA export all settings back into the Classic/s.

And,  of course,  the LA has many other useful functions as well.

There better be an audio disable/enable button in the LA or menu.  Or I'll be disconnecting the chatty speaker too
