The only thing about OnStar is if you do not pay for the diagnostics package then perhaps they might get the data but you and Chevrolet does not...... Using OnStar charging can be turned on and off as they choose, whoever "they" are. I suspect this is a move towards V2G. Sometimes I consider drilling a hole through the antenna or otherwise disabling it as I am not a big fan of the big brother is watching you concept.

Not sure where the antenna is located or access to it but disconnecting the coax to the antenna would work. Or wrapping the antenna in tin foil will make it ineffective. Keep in mind that if you disconnect it , some agents may come knocking on your door ! ha ha .

I know someone who has a Tesla and that car is always hooked up to Tesla central command.

A friend with OnStar in his truck found out the hard way a few years ago, when  not on a "scheduled" (numbered) Highway in BC, that OnStar rescue service does not work without cell service.... that may be the reason they did not contact you about a bad battery....??
