And,  Larry,  how cold has it been in your area this Winter?   73 Thanks,  Good comments and question.   GL,  Vic

Vic - it has been darn cold the last two weeks . But it is supposed to finally be warming up in the next few days.
Coldest was -26 one night.  But then most nights after that were well below zero.
My wood stove keeps me warm no problem - just no space for batteries in here with me !
Take a look at my weather station report - ignore the highs - the sun skews the results a bit since I need to put some insulation around the sensors.

Hi Larry,

Here in CA,   we have been lucky.   The lowest temp for this Winter is about +29F  --  bitter COLD!!   Coldest ever here was about +22F.

Used to live in Eastern WA,   where we saw -34F,   the coldest ever,  for me.

Thanks for the Link to your WX data,   nice system.   A fairly simple Radiation Shield would probably improve the daytime temp accuracy,  if the system does not have one.

Keep warm.   The days are getting noticeably longer,   now.   73   Thanks,   Vic

I have the temperature sensors under a small shelter I built out of tin. In the sun the tin gets warm enough to radiate heat ( even when it is zero degrees out ) .  So yes all I need to do is put a few pieces of insulation under the tin and I have scraps of the kind with foil on one side that will work well.
Yes lots of sun now , and this time of year when the PV is cold, the sky clear of humidity, and reflections off the snow we get peak power never seen the rest of the year.
In case you are wondering it is fine offset weather station that a raspberry pi zero communicates with that is running weewx program . Weewx has both a built in webpage with lots of graphs and data but also sends out the data to the aprs servers. Very stable system with little or no intervention needed.

Hi Larry,

Had seen your previous reference to the R Pi and Weewx station and its reporting.    Seems like a nice solution.

We have run non-networked Davis Instruments WX stations,  for several decades.   Probably time for some changes here   ...   someday.

73,   keep warm.   Thanks,   Vic
