Evening all,

This page mentions UL 9540A and UL9540 approval, my understanding is the 9540 approval is when used in conjunction with a specific inverter model that was tested alongside the battery. Does that include both the Rosie and the Midnite aio?

Brucey,
At this time it is just with the MN15-12K-AIO Rosie will likely come in the future when we go for Grid Tie

Thanks. So at some point there'll be a firmware update for the Rosie to turn it into a hybrid?

A hybrid would require different hardware so unfortunately, not by software.

That would be pretty cool !

All good Bob. Super happy with Rosie as is :)

If you need any beta testers for the 5kWh and the Rosie let me know :)

Hi Bob, did have a suggestion not sure if it's your area:

https://www.midnitesolar.com/products.php?menuItem=products&productCat_ID=67&removeSearch=remove

On both battery item listings, at the end, can this line be updated from: "Compliance UL 1973,UL 9540A,UL9540"

To "Compliance UL 1973,UL 9540A,UL9540 with MN12K-AIO" or something like that? That way it's clear that 9540 isn't possible with Rosie at the present time, as the item descriptions do talk about both the aio and Rosie for close loop comms etc, could save you some hassles down the track.

I agree, I'm reading about the batteries and it makes it seem like they can communicate with Rosie.  I already have Pylon capable batteries.  Rosie cannot talk to them.  It is misleading.

Rosie, Hbay and Bclna will talk to anything pylon, They will not be UL9540 I will add the compliance blurb about 9540 being with the MN12-15K-AIO but the new firware we will push in a few weeks will allow the Rosie, Hbay and Bclna to talk to anything with the pylon protocol

What will the talking do  ? Will the controllers do some kind of control based on info from the bms of battery ? Or is it going to be strictly monitoring capability so you can see the battery info in MNGP2 ?

Thanks FNG. Yes, definitely curious how much will be visible, would be cool to be able to see individual cell levels if that's possible. I have one pre built 5kWh battery with comms, and then two jk non inverter BMS for some diy packs, all can speak pylontech.

If you have a Pace BMS in your batteries , this project will read all the cells and other data and also you can then easily graph what ever want. I have been using this for couple years and it works great. Says Jakiper battery in info but works with SOK, Gobel , etc that use Pace BMS. It sees every cell in my 5 batteries with just one connection to the rs232 port of master battery .  https://github.com/ClassicDIY/PylonToMQTT

Quote from: Brucey on September 03, 2024, 08:39:41 PMThanks Larry, I believe it's using a JBD BMS, it's this one:

Search on github for monitoring projects .
There is also one called Batmon but I haven't checked into it much.

Hi Larry.  I believe Wizbandit answered this question today on the COMBOX thread.  Midnite is shifting the monitoring function to Solar Assistant.  You can download a 1 month trial copy of the software to run on an existing Pi3/4/5.  I did so today, plugged it into my Pytes V5 batteries, and they came right up, no fuss.  Monitoring, graphs, & statistics, but no control capability .... I don't think the COMBOX was going to have control functionality either, doesn't really matter now.
