What happens to the kid charge controller when lithium phosphate batteries go into low temp protection mode ? can the kid handle this without damage ?

The batteries would shut off, so that should shut off the Kid too since it needs the batteries to run.
Not sure what exactly would happen if it shut off the batteries with solar still active.

When a battery goes into low temp protection it usually just disables its CMOS (Charge FET) and will still source power so the KID would just set in Absorb or Float until the battery decided it was warm and closed the CMOS no hard done

Good point Ryan. I was thinking of Low Voltage disconnect when it shuts the battery off.
