Newbie firmware update question

When the directions say "Power down the unit"  do they mean something that can be done from a menu ?  Or do they mean cut the connection to battery pack and/or PV ?

Yes they mean to completely disconnect the Classic from PV and Battery so the display goes blank. You see the operation is such that on initial power up a boot loader looks for firmware on the USB port so it must be completely off when you get ready to start
